Say hello to our opener, James Johann! Born in the Midwest during the 70's era of bell-bottom jeans, wood paneled station wagons and disco music. His childhood upbringing was significantly influenced by country music, countless bad haircuts and heavy doses of Catholic school. In 1991, after being fired from several "McJobs" James began his standup career in Kansas City. But don't let James' boyish appearance fool you; he's a ten-year veteran of the stand-up comedy circuit. His self-deprecating sense of humor and high-energy style all come together to create a unique onstage persona. James relies more on his brain than the profane, and his comedy often hits upon the universal theme of failure, and provides a truthful and hilarious reflection of life as he sees it. Besides headlining comedy clubs nationwide, James just completed the theatre tour "Paying For The New Trailer" (Blue Collar Comedy Tour) starring Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy.

We are pleased to welcome our headliner comedian, Shawn Reynolds. Shawn is a well-known clean, Christian comedian who has spent years on the road performing at churches, theaters, non-profit fundraisers, conferences, concerts, holiday parties, galas, banquets and even women’s events! He has toured with Tim Hawkins, Anita Renfroe, Michael Jr and Compassion International. He has a HILARIOUS Dry Bar Comedy special released in 2020. He has also headlined multiple tours including The UpStanding Comedy Tour in Canada, the Midwest Clean Comedy All-Stars Tour and The Laughing In Person Tour in the Northeast region. In addition to being a full-time, nationally touring clean comedian, Shawn is also the father of six kids (one of which is adopted). In 2019, Shawn founded Stand-Up For Adoption; a clean comedy benefit series that has raised thousands of dollars for families trying to adopt children with special needs.

Soroptimist International of Joplin's largest service project is a week-long summer camp for foster children that has been held annually for more than 35 years. We work in conjunction with the Department of Social Services to identify foster children between the ages of 8 and 14 who could benefit from this camp. Many of the children comment that it is the most fun thing they have all summer and look forward to coming back! Comedy for Camp is a casual, fun-filled evening that consists of good food, live and silent auctions, and of course lots of laughs! Come spend the evening with us and laugh for a good cause!
